George Eliot Primary School

George Eliot Primary School

George Eliot School is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-lingual and multi-faith community school, reflecting the community it serves.

George Eliot currently consists of separate Nursery, Infant and Junior teaching provisions.  The existing buildings are located in St. John’s Wood on what has become known as the ‘Marlborough Hill Campus’. The school’s proximity to both the Westminster and Camden boroughs means they serve children and families from both.

This redevelopment seeks to relocate and bring together the three entities to provide a shared identity in one building to form a new George Eliot Primary School. The development will offer improved facilities, larger and brighter classrooms as well as dedicated external spaces for learning and play.

The redevelopment will also incorporate an Alternative Provision Centre (APC) to support pupils with special needs.

The George Eliot new build scheme takes design references from the surrounding area and as such will be built fostering a relationship with the parkland landscape and many trees that surround it. The pallet of the materials has been carefully selected with this in mind.

Status

The tower crane was dismantled and left the site on the 16th of April, leaving a lot more sky on show and more room on the ground too!

Mechanical and Electrical services inside George Eliot and APC are advancing well with the interior now beginning to look and feel like a real school...

George Eliot has recently gained a Green Roof (a roof literally made up of various grasses and flora)... There are four in total on the site and should make a welcome addition to the school environment as well as the local community. It is an attractive and environmentally friendly way of roofing the school and will take minimal upkeep as it is largely self sufficeint.
