Langdon Park School

Langdon Park School is a co-educational secondary school with a specialism in sport for pupils aged 11-16.  It is situated within the Langdon Park ward of the borough. The nominal roll is 900 (6FE).

The school offers higher level vocational diplomas in Sports Studies. The school is the hub of the local Schools Sports Partnership and is designated as a Community Sports College.  As such, the sports facilities are also used by local primary schools during the day and by the community during evenings and weekends, when parts of the site are operated by private leisure company Greenwich Leisure Limited.

The development will be a part new build and part remodelling / refurbishment of the existing Langdon Park School building and is part of London Borugh of Tower Hamlet's Secondary Education Programme.  The school is a community sports college and is well equipped with outdoor sports facilities including a new MUGA, athletics track and games court as well as six outdoor tennis courts.

The funding is to be spent on upgrading the existing building where required as well as new build elements to provide adequate teaching space and a new school entrance.  The project will also raise the profile of the school within its community and promote a new image which will also contribute towards raising the spirits and aspirations of the pupils and staff. 

The school site is located adjacent to the new DLR Langdon Park station with Langdon Park to the north.  The main block is an imposing Edwardian building which is located within an area of conservation.  The site is large for a central London school boasting over 30,000 square meters and the layout forms a campus which has been developed on an ad hoc basis from the early 1990s to the present day.
