“These are fantastic new facilities.  We should be heralding this as something special for Enfield”.

John Lynch, Chairman of patients’ forum Enfield LINK

North Middlesex Hospital treats around 200 000 patients every year – 80% of whom visit the A&E department – making it one of London’s busiest hospitals.

To bring it up to the modern standards expected in healthcare environments today, Bouygues UK was appointed for the construction of a £123 million development, to serve the community in which it stands. Approximately one third of the original Edwardian hospital site has been overhauled.

The new PFI hospital building spreads over 25 000 sq ft, and is home to a state-of-the-art A&E department, replacing the previous facility which was based in a surgical wing. The department is now the largest of its kind, north of the River Thames in London.
